諸兄弟乎！容我直言不諱、先祖大維逝且葬矣、其墓至今猶在。

“ Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.

“ Fellow Israelites, you can be sure that King David died. He was buried. His tomb is still here today.

“ Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

“ Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us.

Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. (niv)

Beyond him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tombs of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes. (niv)

The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner. (niv)
