So they said to him,“ The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him.But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened.Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together,who said,“ The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.As they were saying these things, he himself stood in their midst. He said to them,“ Peace to you!”But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.“ Why are you troubled?” he asked them.“ And why do doubts arise in your hearts?Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”Having said this, he showed them his hands and feet.But while they still were amazed and in disbelief because of their joy, he asked them,“ Do you have anything here to eat?”So they gave him a piece of a broiled fish,and he took it and ate in their presence.He told them,“ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.You are witnesses of these things.And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”Then he led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.And while he was blessing them, he left them and was carried up into heaven.After worshiping him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.And they were continually in the temple praising God.

Paul, an apostle— not from men or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead—

If you confess with your mouth,“ Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

God raised up his servant and sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways.”

Jesus answered,“ Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days.”Therefore the Jews said,“ This temple took forty-six years to build, and will you raise it up in three days?”But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.Then I called on the name of the LORD:“ LORD, save me!”

This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said:

but the one God raised up did not decay.

For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he must rise from the dead.

Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.

Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say,“ There is no resurrection of the dead”?

and the Living One. I was dead, but look— I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—

If he called those to whom the word of God came‘ gods’— and the Scripture cannot be broken—

I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death. Death, where are your barbs? Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes.

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.

and said,“ Sir, we remember that while this deceiver was still alive he said,‘ After three days I will rise again.’

Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.

“ Brothers and sisters, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David foretold about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.
