因為你們自己明明知道，主的日子來到會像賊在夜間突然來到一樣。

你們要在錫安吹角，在我的聖山發出警報。這地所有的居民要發顫，因為耶和華的日子快到，已經臨近了。

「看哪，耶和華大而可畏之日未到以前，我要差遣以利亞先知到你們那裏去。

「日月星辰要顯出預兆，地上的邦國也有困苦，因海中波浪的響聲而惶惶不安。

在斷定谷有許多許多的人，因為耶和華的日子臨近斷定谷了。

「在那些日子、那災難以後，太陽要變黑，月亮也不放光，

因萬軍之耶和華的一個日子要臨到所有驕傲狂妄的，臨到一切自高的，使他們降為卑；臨到黎巴嫩高大的香柏樹、巴珊的橡樹，臨到一切高山、一切峻嶺，臨到一切碉堡、一切堅固的城牆，臨到他施一切的船隻、一切華麗的船艇。人的驕傲必屈膝，人的狂妄必降卑；在那日，惟獨耶和華被尊崇，偶像必全然廢棄。耶和華興起使地大震動的時候，人就進入石洞和土穴裏，躲避耶和華的驚嚇和他威嚴的榮光。到那日，人必將造來敬拜的金偶像、銀偶像拋給田鼠和蝙蝠。耶和華興起使地大震動的時候，人就進入磐縫和巖隙裏，躲避耶和華的驚嚇和他威嚴的榮光。

但現在的天地還是憑着上帝的話存留，直留到不敬虔之人受審判遭沉淪的日子，用火焚燒。

這是耶和華報仇之日，為錫安伸冤的報應之年。

那時，月亮要蒙羞，太陽要慚愧，因為萬軍之耶和華必在錫安山，在耶路撒冷作王，在他眾長老面前彰顯榮耀。

我觀看地，看哪，地是空虛混沌；我觀看天，天也無光。

要把這樣的人交給撒但，使他的肉體敗壞，好讓他的靈魂在主的日子可以得救。

凡被追上的必被刺死，凡被捉拿的必倒在刀下。

從正午到下午三點鐘，遍地都黑暗了。

看哪！耶和華的日子臨到，必有殘忍、憤恨、烈怒，使這地荒蕪，除滅其中的罪人。

羔羊揭開第六個印的時候，我看見地大震動，太陽變黑像粗麻布，整個月亮變紅像血，

第四位天使把碗傾倒在太陽上，使太陽可用火烤人。
