還說話的時候，有人從管會堂的家裏來，說：「你的女兒死了，何必還勞動先生呢？」

家裏所有的人，無論是在家裏生的，是用銀子從外人買的，也都一同受了割禮。

所以，你們要去，使萬民作我的門徒，奉父、子、聖靈的名給他們施洗。

讀完了律法和先知的書，管會堂的叫人過去，對他們說：「二位兄台，若有甚麼勸勉眾人的話，請說。」

有一個賣紫色布疋的婦人，名叫呂底亞，是推雅推喇城的人，素來敬拜神。她聽見了，主就開導她的心，叫她留心聽保羅所講的話。她和她一家既領了洗，便求我們說：「你們若以為我是真信主的，請到我家裏來住」；於是強留我們。

眾人聽見這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：「弟兄們，我們當怎樣行？」彼得說：「你們各人要悔改，奉耶穌基督的名受洗，叫你們的罪得赦，就必領受所賜的聖靈；因為這應許是給你們和你們的兒女，並一切在遠方的人，就是主－我們神所召來的。」彼得還用許多話作見證，勸勉他們說：「你們當救自己脫離這彎曲的世代。」於是領受他話的人就受了洗。那一天，門徒約添了三千人，
