可是腓利傳講有關神國的福音和耶穌基督之名的時候，他們就相信了，無論男女都受了洗，

耶穌對他們說：「你們要到全世界去，向萬人傳福音。信而受洗的人，將會得救；不信的人，將被定罪。

既然如此，人沒有相信他，怎麼能求告他呢？沒有聽說過他，怎麼能相信他呢？沒有人傳講，怎麼能聽到呢？如果沒有奉差派，又怎麼能去傳講呢？正如經上所記：「傳講美好福音的人，他們的腳蹤多麼美麗！」但是，並不是所有的人都順從了福音，就如以賽亞所說：「主啊，我們所傳的，有誰信了呢？」因此，信是由聽而來，聽是藉著基督的話而來。

這時候，來了一個名叫睚魯的會堂主管。他一見到耶穌，就俯伏在耶穌腳前，

耶穌還在說話的時候，有些人從會堂主管的家裡來，對睚魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，何必再麻煩老師呢？」

他家裡所有的男人，無論是家裡出生的，還是用銀子從外邦人那裡買來的，都與他一起受了割禮。

所以你們要去，使萬民成為我的門徒；奉父、子、聖靈的名給他們施洗；

誦讀了律法和先知書以後，會堂主管們派人來對他們說：「各位兄弟，如果有什麼鼓勵民眾的話，就請說吧。」

難道基督是被分割的嗎？難道保羅為你們被釘十字架了嗎？或者你們受洗是歸入保羅的名嗎？我感謝神，除了克里斯普和蓋尤斯以外，我沒有給你們任何人施過洗，免得有人說，你們是奉我的名受洗。我雖然也給司提法納的一家人施過洗，此外我卻不記得是否給其他人施過洗。要知道，基督差派我，不是為了施洗，而是為了傳福音——並不用智慧的話語，免得基督的十字架落了空。

大家都抓住會堂主管索提尼，在審判臺前毆打他。但伽利奧一概不管這些事。

因為我揀選了他，是要他吩咐他的子孫和後代家族謹守我耶和華的道路，施行公義和公正；好讓我耶和華對亞伯拉罕所說的都應驗在他身上。」

他是個敬虔的人，與全家都敬畏神；他慷慨地賙濟民眾，常常向神禱告。

腓利就開口，從這一段經文開始，向他傳講耶穌的福音。當他們沿路前行的時候，來到一個有水的地方。太監說：「看哪，有水！有什麼能阻止我受洗呢？」

他把保羅和賽拉斯領到家裡，擺上飯食。他和全家人因為信了神，都歡欣跳躍。

有一個敬拜神的婦人，名叫莉迪婭，是錫亞蒂拉城賣紫色布的商人。她一直在聽，主開啟她的心竅，使她留心保羅所講的話。當她和她的家人受了洗之後，她請求我們說：「如果你們判斷我是主的信徒，請到我家裡來住。」於是她極力挽留我們。

眾人聽了這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他的使徒說：「各位兄弟，我們該做什麼呢？」彼得對他們說：「你們應當悔改，每個人都當奉耶穌基督的名受洗，使你們的罪得赦免，就會領受所賜的聖靈。因為這應許是給你們和你們的兒女，以及所有在遠處的人，就是主我們的神所召來的人。」彼得還說許多別的話鄭重地做見證，又勸告他們說：「你們從這扭曲的世代中得救吧！」於是領受他話的人就受了洗；那一天大約增加了三千人。
