可是，人還沒信祂，怎能求告祂呢？還沒聽說過祂，怎能信祂呢？沒有人傳道，怎能聽說過祂呢？人沒有受差遣，怎能傳道呢？正如聖經上說：「那傳福音之人的腳蹤是何等佳美！」只是並非人人都信福音，就像以賽亞先知所說的：「主啊！誰相信我們所傳的呢？」由此可見，聽了道，才會信道；有了基督的話，才有道可聽。

人群中有一位會堂的主管名叫雅魯，他一見到耶穌便俯伏在祂腳前，

耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從雅魯家中趕來，對雅魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，何必麻煩老師呢？」

亞伯拉罕家裡所有的男子，包括家中出生的和買回來的，都一起接受了割禮。

所以，你們要去使萬民作我的門徒，奉父、子、聖靈的名給他們施洗，

讀完律法書和先知書後，會堂主管派人告訴他們：「弟兄們，如果你們有什麼勸勉眾人的話，請講。」

難道基督是分成幾派的嗎？替你們釘十字架的是保羅嗎？你們是奉保羅的名受洗的嗎？感謝上帝，除了基利司布和該猶以外，我沒有為你們任何人施洗，所以沒有人能說是奉我的名受洗的。不錯，我也曾為司提法納的家人施洗，除此以外，我不記得還為誰施洗了。基督不是差遣我去為人施洗，而是去傳揚福音，而且不用高言大智，免得基督十字架的能力被抹摋。

到了庭外，眾人揪住會堂主管所提尼，把他痛打一頓。迦流卻置之不理。

如果你們不願意事奉耶和華，今天就選擇你們的神明吧，或大河那邊你們祖先事奉的神明，或你們這裡亞摩利人的神明。至於我和我全家，我們必事奉耶和華。」

我揀選了他，是要他教導自己的子孫後代持守我的道、秉公行義。這樣，我必實現對他的應許。」

他和全家都是虔誠敬畏上帝的人，他慷慨賙濟窮人，常常禱告。

腓利就從這段經文入手向他傳耶穌的福音。他們往前走的時候，經過一處有水的地方，太監說：「你看，這裡有水，我可以在這裡接受洗禮嗎？」

他請二人到家裡吃飯，他和全家人充滿了喜樂，因為都信了上帝。

聽眾中有個賣紫色布匹的婦人名叫呂底亞，是推雅推喇城的人，向來敬拜上帝。上帝開啟她的心，她便留心聽保羅講道。呂底亞和家人接受洗禮之後，極力邀請我們，說：「如果你們認為我是真心信主的話，請來我家住。」於是強留我們住下。

他們聽了彼得的話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他使徒說：「弟兄們，我們該怎麼辦呢？」彼得說：「你們每一個人都要悔改，奉耶穌基督的名受洗，使你們的罪得到赦免，你們就必領受上帝所賜的聖靈。因為這應許是給你們和你們的兒女，以及遠方的人，就是所有被主——我們的上帝呼召的人。」然後，彼得還講了許多話警戒、勸勉他們，說：「你們要保守自己脫離這邪惡的世代。」結果，那天約有三千人相信了他傳的道，接受了洗禮。
