When they opposed him and reviled him, he protested by shaking out his clothes and said to them,“ Your blood be on your own heads! I am guiltless! From now on I will go to the Gentiles!”

When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them,“ Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”

Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die.

“ You have condemned yourself,” David said,“ for you yourself confessed that you killed the Lord’s anointed one.”

and lends money at excessive interest. Should such a sinful person live? No! He must die and must take full blame.

So they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection and went to the town of Iconium.

If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.

I shook out the folds of my robe and said,“ If you fail to keep your promise, may God shake you like this from your homes and from your property!” The whole assembly responded,“ Amen,” and they praised the Lord. And the people did as they had promised.

If I warn the wicked, saying,‘ You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths.If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me.

Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.

Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.

And all the people yelled back,“ We will take responsibility for his death— we and our children!”

After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles? Of course he is.

But if a town refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say,‘ We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this— the Kingdom of God is near!’

And they hurled all sorts of terrible insults at him.

And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

What does all this mean? Even though the Gentiles were not trying to follow God’s standards, they were made right with God. And it was by faith that this took place.But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.God warned them of this in the Scriptures when he said,“ I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. But anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”

And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated the believers in God’s churches in Judea who, because of their belief in Christ Jesus, suffered from their own people, the Jews.For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanityas they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.

But some became stubborn, rejecting his message and publicly speaking against the Way. So Paul left the synagogue and took the believers with him. Then he held daily discussions at the lecture hall of Tyrannus.This went on for the next two years, so that people throughout the province of Asia— both Jews and Greeks— heard the word of the Lord.

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

“ If a man violates his father by having sex with one of his father’s wives, both the man and the woman must be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.“ If a man has sex with his daughter in law, both must be put to death. They have committed a perverse act and are guilty of a capital offense.

Concerning the Gentiles, God says in the prophecy of Hosea,“ Those who were not my people, I will now call my people. And I will love those whom I did not love before.”And,“ Then, at the place where they were told,‘ You are not my people,’ there they will be called‘ children of the living God.’”

Never be in a hurry about appointing a church leader. Do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared,“ It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.For the Lord gave us this command when he said,‘ I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’”

Many times I had them punished in the synagogues to get them to curse Jesus. I was so violently opposed to them that I even chased them down in foreign cities.

So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.”

If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.

Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves.Now if the Gentiles were enriched because the people of Israel turned down God’s offer of salvation, think how much greater a blessing the world will share when they finally accept it.I am saying all this especially for you Gentiles. God has appointed me as the apostle to the Gentiles. I stress this,for I want somehow to make the people of Israel jealous of what you Gentiles have, so I might save some of them.For since their rejection meant that God offered salvation to the rest of the world, their acceptance will be even more wonderful. It will be life for those who were dead!

But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?Aren’t they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?

“ Anyone who dishonors father or mother must be put to death. Such a person is guilty of a capital offense.

I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God— and prove they have changed by the good things they do.

If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave.

And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world— from east and west— and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.

So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests.

Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.For“ Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault,for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.
