But as he left, he promised,“ I will come back if it is God’s will.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.

As he left, he made them a promise.“ If God wants me to,” he said,“ I will come back.” Then he sailed from Ephesus.

But on taking leave of them he said,“ I will return to you if God wills,” and he set sail from Ephesus.

What you ought to say is,“ If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”

But I will come— and soon— if the Lord lets me, and then I’ll find out whether these arrogant people just give pretentious speeches or whether they really have God’s power.

Paul had decided to sail on past Ephesus, for he didn’t want to spend any more time in the province of Asia. He was hurrying to get to Jerusalem, if possible, in time for the Festival of Pentecost.

Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.

One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.

And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.

Another said,“ Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good bye to my family.”

This time I don’t want to make just a short visit and then go right on. I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me.

Afterward Paul felt compelled by the Spirit to go over to Macedonia and Achaia before going to Jerusalem.“ And after that,” he said,“ I must go on to Rome!”

If the Lord Jesus is willing, I hope to send Timothy to you soon for a visit. Then he can cheer me up by telling me how you are getting along.I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare.All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News.I hope to send him to you just as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me here.And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon.

You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.”

“ In honor of the Lord your God, celebrate the Passover each year in the early spring, in the month of Abib, for that was the month in which the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying,“ My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said,“ The Lord’s will be done.”

Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.
