因为保罗早已决定要越过以弗所，免得在亚细亚耽延，他急忙前行，假如可能的话，在五旬节前能赶到耶路撒冷。

奉上帝旨意作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给在以弗所的众圣徒，就是在基督耶稣里忠心的人。

我往马其顿去的时候，曾劝你留在以弗所，好嘱咐某些人不可传别的教义，

说：“把你所看见的写在书上，寄给以弗所、士每拿、别迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉铁非、老底嘉那七个教会。”

“你要写信给以弗所教会的使者，说：‘那右手拿着七颗星，在七个金灯台中间行走的这样说：

从人的观点看来，我当日在以弗所同野兽搏斗，对我有什么益处呢？如果死人没有复活，“让我们吃吃喝喝吧！因为明天要死了。”

凡住在以弗所的，无论是犹太人是希腊人，都知道这件事，也都惧怕；主耶稣的名从此就更被尊为大了。

我已经打发推基古往以弗所去。

你们看到，也听见这保罗不但在以弗所，也几乎在亚细亚全地，引诱迷惑了许多人，说：‘人手所做的不是神明。’

保罗照他素常的规矩进去，一连三个安息日，根据圣经与他们辩论，讲解和说明基督必须受害，从死人中复活；又说：“我所传给你们的这位耶稣就是基督。”

就辞别他们，说：“上帝若许可，我还要回到你们这里来。”于是他上船离开以弗所。
