他就是狂妄自大、一無所知。這種人專好問難，爭辯字句，結果引起嫉妒、紛爭、毀謗和猜忌，

彼拉多見再說也無濟於事，反而會引起騷亂，於是拿了一盆水來，在眾人面前洗手，說：「流這義人的血，罪不在我，你們自己負責。」

如果我做錯了，犯了該死的罪，我決不逃避！但他們對我的指控毫無根據，誰也不能把我交給他們。我要向凱撒上訴！」

不要參與愚昧無知的辯論，因為這些事只會引起紛爭。

「我出賣了清白無辜的人，我犯罪了！」他們說：「那是你自己的事，跟我們有什麼關係？」

彼拉多說：「你們把祂帶走，按照你們的律法去審理吧。」猶太人說：「可是我們無權把人處死。」

要避免愚昧的爭論、有關家譜的辯駁和律法上的爭執，因為這些毫無益處。

尤其是你對猶太習俗和各種爭議都十分熟悉。因此，求你耐心聽我說。

企圖玷污聖殿，被我們抓住了。我們想按照猶太律法處置他，不料呂西亞千夫長卻硬把他從我們手中搶走，並命令告他的人到大人這裡來。大人親自審問他，就會知道我們告他的事了。」

也不要沉迷於虛構的神話和冗長的家譜，因為這些事只會引起無用的猜測和辯論，無法幫助人憑信心認識上帝的救贖計劃。
