他們開始控告他說：「我們見這人煽惑我們的國民，禁止我們納稅給凱撒，並說自己是基督，是王。」

從此，彼拉多想要釋放耶穌，無奈猶太人喊着說：「你若釋放這個人，你就不是凱撒的忠臣。凡自立為王的就是背叛凱撒。」

竟傳佈我們羅馬人所不可接受、不可遵守的規矩。」

請王知道，從王那裏上到我們這裏的猶太人，已經抵達耶路撒冷。他們正在重建這反叛惡劣的城，已經完成了城牆，正要修復根基。如今請王知道，這城若再建造，城牆完工，他們就不再進貢、納糧、繳稅，王的國庫必受虧損。如今，我們吃的鹽既然全是宮廷的鹽，就不忍見王吃虧，因此奏告於王，請王考察先王史籍，必會在史籍上查知這城是反叛的城，對列王和各省有害；自古以來，城中常有悖逆的事，因此這城曾被拆毀。

保羅申辯說：「無論猶太人的律法，或是聖殿，或是凱撒，我都沒有干犯。」但非斯都要討猶太人的喜歡，就回答保羅說：「你願意上耶路撒冷去，在那裏為這些事受我的審判嗎？」保羅說：「我現在站在凱撒的審判臺前，這就是我應當受審的地方。我並沒有對猶太人做過甚麼不對的事，這也是你明明知道的。我若做了不對的事，犯了甚麼該死的罪，就是死我也不辭。他們所控告我的事若都不實，就沒有人能把我交給他們。我要向凱撒上訴。」

現在有幾個猶大人，就是王所派管理巴比倫省事務的沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌；王啊，這些人不理你的諭旨，不事奉你的神明，也不拜你所立的金像。」

他們對王說：「王啊，那被擄的猶大人但以理不理會你，也不遵守你簽署的禁令，竟一天三次祈禱。」

因為上帝的旨意原是要你們以行善來堵住糊塗無知人的口。
