奏知大王：從你那裡上到我們這裡來的猶大人，已經到了耶路撒冷這座叛逆和邪惡的城；他們進行建造，並且已經修好根基，開始建造城牆。現在奏知大王：如果這城建成，牆垣築好，他們就不再繳稅、進貢和納糧，王的國庫收入必定受損。現在我們既食王家的鹽，不該見王受剝奪，因此上奏稟告王，請王查考先王的記錄，從記錄中查知這城是叛逆的城，對列王和各省都有損害，自古以來，城中常有造反的事，因此這城被拆毀。

保羅申辯說：“無論對猶太人的律法、聖殿或凱撒，我都沒有罪。”但非斯都為要討好猶太人，就問保羅：“你願意去耶路撒冷，讓我在那裡審問這事嗎？”保羅說：“我現在站在凱撒的審判臺前，這裡是我應當受審的地方。我對猶太人並沒有作過甚麼不對的事，這是你清楚知道的。我若作過不對的事，犯過甚麼該死的罪，就是死我也不推辭。不過，如果這些人告我的事不是真的，誰也不可以把我送給他們。我要向凱撒上訴。”

但有幾個猶大人，就是王所派管理巴比倫省政務的沙得拉、米煞和亞伯尼歌，王啊！這些人不理會你的命令，不事奉你的神，也不向你所立的金像下拜。”

於是他們對王說：“王啊，在被擄的猶大人中的但以理不理會你的命令，也不理會你簽署的禁令，竟仍一日三次向他的神祈求。”

因為這是神的旨意，要藉著你們的善行，塞住糊塗無知人的口。
