他們就拉住保羅，帶他到亞略巴古，問他：「你所講論的這新教導，我們可以知道嗎？

照樣，在現今的時刻也有剩餘的少數，就是藉著恩典蒙揀選的人。既然藉著恩典，就不再本於行為了；否則，恩典就不再是恩典了。

外邦人聽了這話就感到歡喜，不住地榮耀主的福音，凡是被預定進入永恆生命的人都信了。

於是保羅站在亞略巴古當中說：「各位雅典人哪，我看你們在各方面都非常敬畏鬼神，

所有的聖徒，尤其是來自凱撒宮裡的人，也都問候你們。

難道首領或法利賽人中有信他的嗎？這不懂律法的民眾是被詛咒的！」他們當中有一個人，就是原先來到耶穌那裡的尼克迪莫，對他們說：「如果不先聽本人的口供，並且了解他做了什麼，我們的律法就定不了他的罪，難道不是嗎？」他們回答說：「你也不會是加利利人吧？你去查一查看，先知是不會從加利利興起的！」

他們當中有些人被說服了，就跟從了保羅和賽拉斯；不但有一大群敬神的希臘人，還有不少顯要的婦女。

「這樣，那些在後的，將要在前；那些在前的，將要在後。」

這些事以後，亞利馬太的約瑟請求彼拉多，要領取耶穌的遺體。約瑟也是耶穌的門徒，不過是暗暗地做門徒，因為他怕那些猶太人。彼拉多准許了，他就來把耶穌的遺體領去。當初在夜裡來到耶穌那裡的尼克迪莫也來了。他帶著沒藥和沉香的混合香料，大約三十公斤。他們領了耶穌的遺體，按猶太人預備葬禮的規矩，用細麻布條和香料把遺體纏裹起來。耶穌被釘十字架的地方有一個園子，園子裡有一座新墓穴，從來沒有安放過人。因為那天是猶太人的預備日，那墓穴又在附近，他們就把耶穌安放在那裡。

雨雪怎樣從天而降，不徒然返回原處，卻滋潤大地，使地上發芽結實，讓播種的有種子，吃食的有糧食；照樣，從我口中發出的話語也不徒然返回於我，卻要成就我的意願，在我派遣它去做的事上成功。
