保羅講論公義、節制，和將來的審判。腓力斯甚覺恐懼，說：「你暫且去吧，等我得便再叫你來。」

神叫死人復活，你們為甚麼看作不可信的呢？

保羅這樣分訴，非斯都大聲說：「保羅，你癲狂了吧。你的學問太大，反叫你癲狂了！」保羅說：「非斯都大人，我不是癲狂，我說的乃是真實明白話。

因為他說：「在悅納的時候，我應允了你；在拯救的日子，我搭救了你。」看哪，現在正是悅納的時候！現在正是拯救的日子；

不過是有幾樣辯論，為他們自己敬鬼神的事，又為一個人名叫耶穌，是已經死了，保羅卻說他是活着的。

因為他已經定了日子，要藉着他所設立的人按公義審判天下，並且叫他從死裏復活，給萬人作可信的憑據。」

聖靈有話說：你們今日若聽他的話，就不可硬着心，像在曠野惹他發怒、試探他的時候一樣。

我們為基督的緣故算是愚拙的，你們在基督裏倒是聰明的；我們軟弱，你們倒強壯；你們有榮耀，我們倒被藐視。

眾人一口同音地推辭。頭一個說：『我買了一塊地，必須去看看。請你准我辭了。』

他們卻嘻笑神的使者，藐視他的言語，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華的忿怒向他的百姓發作，無法可救。

你們若轉向耶和華，你們的弟兄和兒女必在擄掠他們的人面前蒙憐恤，得以歸回這地，因為耶和華－你們的神有恩典、施憐憫。你們若轉向他，他必不轉臉不顧你們。」驛卒就由這城跑到那城，傳遍了以法蓮、瑪拿西，直到西布倫。那裏的人卻戲笑他們，譏誚他們。然而亞設、瑪拿西、西布倫中也有人自卑，來到耶路撒冷。

又有人忍受戲弄、鞭打、捆鎖、監禁、各等的磨煉，

希律和他的兵丁就藐視耶穌，戲弄他，給他穿上華麗衣服，把他送回彼拉多那裏去。

主說：你們這輕慢的人要觀看，要驚奇，要滅亡；因為在你們的時候，我行一件事，雖有人告訴你們，你們總是不信。」

我們卻是傳釘十字架的基督，在猶太人為絆腳石，在外邦人為愚拙；

這樣，我們也當出到營外，就了他去，忍受他所受的凌辱。

羅得就出去，告訴娶了他女兒的女婿們說：「你們起來離開這地方，因為耶和華要毀滅這城。」他女婿們卻以為他說的是戲言。
