In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

In the past, God didn’t judge people for what they didn’t know. But now he commands all people everywhere to turn away from their sins.

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

“ God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.

“ Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent,

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:

In past generations He permitted all the nations to go their own ways;

and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people,instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age,

whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished;

For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.

So I say this, and affirm in the Lord, that you are to no longer walk just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their minds,being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;and they, having become callous, have given themselves up to indecent behavior for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.But you did not learn Christ in this way,if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.Therefore, ridding yourselves of falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, because we are parts of one another.Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,and do not give the devil an opportunity.The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labor, producing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need.Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’“ For that reason, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision,but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

and saying,“ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.Therefore do not become partners with them;for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

And they went out and preached that people are to repent.

When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying,“ Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription,‘ TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.

No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper,

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;

These things you have done and I kept silent; You thought that I was just like you; I will rebuke you and present the case before your eyes.

From that time Jesus began to preach and say,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
