昔在蒙昧之世、天主尚予優容、今已檄曉人群、咸當幡然悔改、

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

In the past, God didn’t judge people for what they didn’t know. But now he commands all people everywhere to turn away from their sins.

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

“ God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.

So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:

“ Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent,

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Therefore, although God has overlooked such times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent,

In past generations he allowed all the nations to go their own way,

and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,

God presented him as the mercy seat by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.

For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

Therefore, I say this and testify in the Lord: You should no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thoughts.They are darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them and because of the hardness of their hearts.They became callous and gave themselves over to promiscuity for the practice of every kind of impurity with a desire for more and more.But that is not how you came to know Christ,assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus,to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires,to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger,and don’t give the devil an opportunity.Let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he is to do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear.And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by him for the day of redemption.Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

I will rescue you from your people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to themto open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’“ So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.Instead, I preached to those in Damascus first, and to those in Jerusalem and in all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.

Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

“ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things.Therefore, do not become their partners.For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light—

So they went out and preached that people should repent.

When they heard this they became silent. And they glorified God, saying,“ So then, God has given repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles.”

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;

Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,

For as I was passing through and observing the objects of your worship, I even found an altar on which was inscribed,‘ To an Unknown God.’ Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.

I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

and saying,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.”

And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct;

You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you.

From then on Jesus began to preach,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
