If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? Or, if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to Him?If you are righteous, what do you give Him? Or what does He receive from your hand?

“ Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?”

“ Can a man be profitable to God, Though he who is wise may be profitable to himself?

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

As long as my breath is in me, And the breath of God in my nostrils,

Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it:

for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said,‘ For we are also His offspring.’

These all wait for You, That You may give them their food in due season.What You give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with good.You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:

O my soul, you have said to the Lord,“ You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?

But go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

If He should set His heart on it, If He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath,

“ Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

For I will not contend forever, Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would fail before Me, And the souls which I have made.

“ I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place— on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and not be quenched.”Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.But this is what I commanded them, saying,‘ Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’

Then they fell on their faces, and said,“ O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the congregation?”
