Can a man be profitable unto God? Surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

The Spirit of God hath made me, And the breath of the Almighty giveth me life.

Thus saith God Jehovah, he that created the heavens, and stretched them forth; he that spread abroad the earth and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

These wait all for thee, That thou mayest give them their food in due season.Thou givest unto them, they gather; Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good.Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; Thou takest away their breath, they die, And return to their dust.Thou sendest forth thy Spirit, they are created; And thou renewest the face of the ground.

Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond thee.

that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.

In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?

But go ye and learn what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice: for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

And yet he left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

If he set his heart upon himself, If he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, mine anger and my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt- offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat ye flesh.For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt- offerings or sacrifices:but this thing I commanded them, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people; and walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.

And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
