因為我走遍各處的時候，留心看你們所敬拜的，居然遇見一座壇、上面寫着說：「獻與不認識的神」。那麼你們所不認識而敬拜的，我把這個傳布給你們。

我游行的时候，观看你们所敬拜的，遇见一座坛，上面写着‘未识之神’。你们所不认识而敬拜的，我现在告诉你们。

我到处走走的时候，仔细观察你们所敬拜的，发现一座坛，上面写着‘献给未识之神明’。你们所不认识而敬拜的，我现在向你们宣告：

我適遊行、欲觀爾所崇拜者、遇一祭壇、上刻曰、未識之主、爾所未識而崇拜者、今我告爾、

蓋吾嘗閒步街頭、一覽爾所崇拜之對象、偶值一壇、上書「獻於未識之神。」茲吾欲揭示於爾者、正爾所未識而敬事者也。

For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship— and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.

你們敬拜你們所不知道的，我們敬拜我們所知道的，因為拯救是從猶太人出的。

但從前你們不認識上帝的時候，是給那些本性不是神的做奴僕。如今你們既已認識上帝（倒不如說被上帝所認識），怎麼還要再回去歸向那些軟弱貧乏的「星質之靈」，情願重再給它們做奴僕呢？

認識你獨一無二的真神、並且認識你所差遣的耶穌基督：這就是永生。

這樣，無知的時候、上帝不加細察，如今卻囑咐各處的人都要悔改。

他們徒然敬拜我，將人的誡律當教條教訓人。」』

本着上帝的智慧、世人既沒有憑着智慧認識上帝，上帝就樂意藉着宣傳之話的愚拙、來救信的人。

義的父啊，世人沒認識過你，我卻認識了你，這些人也知道是你差遣了我。

耶穌回答說：『我若榮耀我自己，我的榮耀就算不了甚麼。榮耀我的乃是我的父，就是你們所說是你們的上帝的，

他們怎樣在認識上帝選擇了「無上帝」，上帝就怎樣把他們放給不上選的心思，去行不該行的事；

因為雖或有所謂神的——或是在天、或是在地，就如那許多的「神」、許多的「主」——

我們知道上帝的兒子已經來到，並且將理解的心給了我們，使我們認得出那「真實」者；我們也確是在那「真實」者裏面，在他兒子耶穌基督裏面：這就是真神；這就是真而永的生命。

你行了這些事，我緘不作聲；你想我和你一樣。其實我要責備你，要將這些事擺在你眼前呢。

他待任何別國都沒有這樣待過；這些典章他們都不知道。哈利路亞！

願尊貴榮耀歸於那不能朽壞、人不能見、萬世的君王、獨一無二的上帝、世世無窮！阿們。

至於他的事、人所不能見的——他永久的能力及神性——從世界之創立以來，又是藉着他所造之物以被了悟而看清楚，使人無可推諉。因為他們雖然認識上帝，卻不看他為上帝而榮耀他，也不感謝他，反倒在思想上成為虛妄，他們蒙昧的心就昏暗了。他們自稱為有智慧，反而成了愚拙，用那能敗壞的人類、飛鳥、走獸、昆蟲之像的樣式、去代換那不能朽壞的上帝之榮耀。所以在他們心裏的私慾中、上帝就把他們放給污穢、去彼此侮辱自己的身體。這種人用了假去替換上帝之真，敬拜事奉了被創造之物，而不敬奉創造之主：就是應當受祝頌、萬世無窮的。阿們。

那敵對者、那高抬自己、超高一切稱為神或受人崇拜者，甚至坐在上帝之殿堂裏、自稱為神的。

在他們、今世的神已把不信之人的心意弄瞎了，以致基督（上帝的像）榮耀之福音之光照不能發曉於他們心裏。我們並不是宣傳自己，乃是宣傳基督耶穌為主，自己又為了耶穌的緣故做你們的僕人。因為那吩咐『光當從暗中照出來』的上帝照澈了我們心裏，使我們在耶穌基督臉上接受了上帝之榮耀之認識之光照。

那時你們在基督以外，跟以色列的公民團契隔絕，在帶應許的諸約上是外人，在世界上是無盼望無上帝的。
