You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.

So during the night, some of the other believers lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the city wall.

He ordered,“ Bring him to me in his bed so I can kill him!”But when they came to carry David out, they discovered that it was only an idol in the bed with a cushion of goat’s hair at its head.“ Why have you betrayed me like this and let my enemy escape?” Saul demanded of Michal.“ I had to,” Michal replied.“ He threatened to kill me if I didn’t help him.”

Then, since Rahab’s house was built into the town wall, she let them down by a rope through the window.“ Escape to the hill country,” she told them.“ Hide there for three days from the men searching for you. Then, when they have returned, you can go on your way.”

Then the commander called two of his officers and ordered,“ Get 200 soldiers ready to leave for Caesarea at nine o’clock tonight. Also take 200 spearmen and 70 mounted troops.Provide horses for Paul to ride, and get him safely to Governor Felix.”

When the apostles learned of it, they fled to the region of Lycaonia— to the towns of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding area.And there they preached the Good News.
