保羅照他的習慣進去，一連三個安息日，根據聖經與他們辯論，

與他同行的有比里亞人畢羅斯的兒子所巴特，帖撒羅尼迦人亞里達古和西公都，特庇人該猶和提摩太，亞西亞人推基古和特羅非摩。

我們從前在腓立比雖然受了苦，又被凌辱，可是靠著我們的神，在強烈的反對之下，仍然放膽向你們述說神的福音，這是你們知道的。

於是他的門徒就趁夜用大籃子把他從城牆上縋下去。

約拿單對大衛說：“你平平安安走吧！我們二人曾指著耶和華的名起誓說：‘願耶和華在你我之間，也在我的後裔和你的後裔之間作證，直到永遠。’”大衛就起身離開，約拿單也回城裡去了（“大衛就起身離開，約拿單也回城裡去了。”在《馬索拉文本》為21:1）。

於是米甲從窗口把大衛縋下去，大衛就離開那裡逃走，逃脫了。米甲把家中的一尊神像拿來，放在床上，把頭枕在用山羊毛弄成的枕頭上，再用衣服蓋著。掃羅派人來捉拿大衛，米甲說：“他病了。”掃羅又派人去看大衛說：“你們把他連床一起抬到我這裡來，我好殺死他。”奉派的人進去，看見床上有一尊家中的神像，頭枕在用山羊毛弄成的枕頭上。掃羅問米甲：“你為甚麼這樣欺騙我，放了我的仇敵，讓他逃走呢？”米甲回答掃羅：“他對我說：‘放我走！否則我要殺死你。’”

於是，那女人用繩子把二人從窗戶縋下去，因為她的房屋是在城牆上，她就住在城牆上。她對他們二人說：“你們要到山上去，免得追趕的人遇上你們；你們要在那裡躲藏三天，等追趕的人回城，然後你們才可以走你們的路。”

千夫長叫了兩個百夫長來，說：“預備兩百個步兵，七十個騎兵、兩百個長槍手，晚上九點鐘往該撒利亞去。也要預備好牲口，好讓保羅騎上，護送他安全到達腓力斯總督那裡。”

兩人知道了，就逃往呂高尼的路司得和特庇兩城，以及周圍的地方，在那裡傳福音。
