Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem, saying,“ After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”

When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus.

For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem.

Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision,“ Ananias.” And he said,“ Here I am, Lord.”And the Lord said to him,“ Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”

And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a tranceand saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth.In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.And there came a voice to him:“ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”But Peter said,“ By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”And the voice came to him again a second time,“ What God has made clean, do not call common.”This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,“ How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him,“ Cornelius.”

“‘ And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

And when I was with you and was in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.

“ When I had returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a tranceand saw him saying to me,‘ Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’And I said,‘ Lord, they themselves know that in one synagogue after another I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you.And when the blood of Stephen your witness was being shed, I myself was standing by and approving and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’And he said to me,‘ Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

For even when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were afflicted at every turn— fighting without and fear within.

And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision,“ Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent,for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.”

There he spent three months, and when a plot was made against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven— whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.And I know that this man was caught up into paradise— whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows—and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.

After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia.

“ I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me.Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air.And I heard a voice saying to me,‘ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’But I said,‘ By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’But the voice answered a second time from heaven,‘ What God has made clean, do not call common.’This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven.And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea.And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say,‘ Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter;he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’

And Cornelius said,“ Four days ago, about this hour, I was praying in my house at the ninth hour, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing

Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him,“ Please come to us without delay.”

for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,

For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship,and he said,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip,“ Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place.And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worshipand was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.And the Spirit said to Philip,“ Go over and join this chariot.”So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked,“ Do you understand what you are reading?”And he said,“ How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia,

for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year. And your zeal has stirred up most of them.

So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.
