有一个卖紫色布匹的妇人，名叫吕底亚，是推雅推喇城的人，素来敬拜神。她听见了，主就开导她的心，叫她留心听保罗所讲的话。

打发我们的兄弟在基督福音上作神执事的提摩太前去，坚固你们，并在你们所信的道上劝慰你们，免得有人被诸般患难摇动。因为你们自己知道，我们受患难原是命定的。

愿颂赞归与我们的主耶稣基督的父神，就是发慈悲的父，赐各样安慰的神。我们在一切患难中，他就安慰我们，叫我们能用神所赐的安慰去安慰那遭各样患难的人。我们既多受基督的苦楚，就靠基督多得安慰。我们受患难呢，是为叫你们得安慰，得拯救；我们得安慰呢，也是为叫你们得安慰；这安慰能叫你们忍受我们所受的那样苦楚。我们为你们所存的盼望是确定的，因为知道你们既是同受苦楚，也必同得安慰。

想了一想，就往那称呼马可的约翰、他母亲马利亚家去，在那里有好些人聚集祷告。彼得敲外门，有一个使女，名叫罗大，出来探听，听得是彼得的声音，就欢喜的顾不得开门，跑进去告诉众人说：“彼得站在门外。”他们说：“你是疯了！”使女极力地说：“真是他！”他们说：“必是他的天使！”彼得不住地敲门。他们开了门，看见他，就甚惊奇。彼得摆手，不要他们作声，就告诉他们主怎样领他出监；又说：“你们把这事告诉雅各和众弟兄。”于是出去，往别处去了。

路司得和以哥念的弟兄都称赞他。
