有一位敬畏神的婦女，名叫呂底亞，是推雅推拉城賣紫色布的商人，她一直在聽，主開啟她的心，使她留心聽保羅所講的。

派我們的弟兄，就是在基督的福音上和神同工的提摩太去，為了要在你們的信仰上堅定你們，勸慰你們，免得有人在各樣的患難中動搖了。你們自己知道，我們受患難原是命定的。

所以，我們並不沮喪，我們外面的人雖然漸漸朽壞，但裡面的人卻日日更新，因為我們短暫輕微的患難，是要為我們成就極大無比、永遠的榮耀。我們所顧念的，不是看得見的，而是看不見的；因為看得見的是暫時的，看不見的是永遠的。

我們主耶穌基督的父神是應當稱頌的。他是滿有憐憫的父，賜各樣安慰的神。我們在一切患難中，神都安慰我們，使我們能用他所賜的安慰，去安慰那些在各樣患難中的人。我們既然多受基督所受的痛苦，就靠著基督多得安慰。如果我們遭遇患難，那是要使你們得著安慰，得著拯救；如果我們得到安慰，也是要使你們得到安慰。這安慰使你們能夠忍受我們所受那樣的痛苦。我們對你們的盼望是堅定的，因為知道你們既然一同受痛苦，也必照樣同得安慰。

他明白了之後，就到約翰（別名馬可）的母親馬利亞家裡去；有許多人聚集在那裡禱告。彼得敲了大門，有一個名叫羅大的使女，出來應門。她認出是彼得的聲音，歡喜到顧不得開門，就跑進去報告，說彼得站在門外。大家說：“你瘋了！”她卻堅持地說這是真的。他們說：“一定是他的天使。”彼得繼續敲門；他們打開了，一見是他，就非常驚訝。彼得作了一個手勢，要他們安靜，然後對他們述說主怎樣領他出監，又說：“你們把這些事告訴雅各和眾弟兄。”就離開那裡，到別的地方去了。

路司得和以哥念的弟兄們都稱讚他。
