有一位敬畏神的妇女，名叫吕底亚，是推雅推拉城卖紫色布的商人，她一直在听，主开启她的心，使她留心听保罗所讲的。

派我们的弟兄，就是在基督的福音上和神同工的提摩太去，为了要在你们的信仰上坚定你们，劝慰你们，免得有人在各样的患难中动摇了。你们自己知道，我们受患难原是命定的。

坚固门徒的心，劝他们恒守所信的道，又说：“我们进入神的国，必须经历许多苦难。”

我们主耶稣基督的父神是应当称颂的。他是满有怜悯的父，赐各样安慰的神。我们在一切患难中，神都安慰我们，使我们能用他所赐的安慰，去安慰那些在各样患难中的人。我们既然多受基督所受的痛苦，就靠着基督多得安慰。如果我们遭遇患难，那是要使你们得着安慰，得着拯救；如果我们得到安慰，也是要使你们得到安慰。这安慰使你们能够忍受我们所受那样的痛苦。我们对你们的盼望是坚定的，因为知道你们既然一同受痛苦，也必照样同得安慰。

他明白了之后，就到约翰（别名马可）的母亲马利亚家里去；有许多人聚集在那里祷告。彼得敲了大门，有一个名叫罗大的使女，出来应门。她认出是彼得的声音，欢喜到顾不得开门，就跑进去报告，说彼得站在门外。大家说：“你疯了！”她却坚持地说这是真的。他们说：“一定是他的天使。”彼得继续敲门；他们打开了，一见是他，就非常惊讶。彼得作了一个手势，要他们安静，然后对他们述说主怎样领他出监，又说：“你们把这些事告诉雅各和众弟兄。”就离开那里，到别的地方去了。

路司得和以哥念的弟兄们都称赞他。
