But Paul said to them,“ After beating us in public without due process— men who are Romans— they threw us into prison; and now they are releasing us secretly? No indeed! On the contrary, let them come in person and lead us out.”

保罗却说：“我们是罗马公民，他们不经审讯就当众打我们，又把我们关进牢里，现在却想偷偷打发掉我们吗？这样不行，叫他们亲自来领我们出去！”

保罗对他们说：“我们是罗马人，还没有定罪，他们就公开打我们，又放在监里；现在要私下赶我们出去吗？不行！他们应当亲自来，领我们出去！”

可是保罗对他们说：“我们是罗马公民，并没有被定罪，他们却当众打我们，把我们投进监狱。现在他们还要悄悄地把我们赶出去吗？当然不行！让他们亲自来领我们出去！”

保羅卻說：「我們是羅馬人，並沒有定罪，他們就在眾人面前打了我們，又把我們下在監裏，現在要私下攆我們出去嗎？這是不行的。叫他們自己來領我們出去吧！」

隸如言白有司、有司聞其為羅馬人、悚懼、

But Paul said to the officers:“ They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”

But Paul replied to the officers.“ They beat us in public,” he said.“ We weren’t given a trial. And we are Roman citizens! They threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and personally lead us out.”

But Paul said to them,“ They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”

But Paul replied,“ They have publicly beaten us without a trial and put us in prison— and we are Roman citizens. So now they want us to leave secretly? Certainly not! Let them come themselves to release us!”

But Paul said to them,“ They beat us in public without a trial, although we are Roman citizens, and threw us in jail. And now are they going to send us away secretly? Certainly not! On the contrary, let them come themselves and escort us out.”

But Paul said to them,“ They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.”

But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out.

But Paul said to them,“ They beat us in public without a trial, although we are Roman citizens, and threw us in jail. And now are they going to smuggle us out secretly? Certainly not! On the contrary, let them come themselves and escort us out!”

But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast[ us] into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

But Paul said to the police officers,“ They had us beaten in public without a proper trial– even though we are Roman citizens– and they threw us in prison. And now they want to send us away secretly? Absolutely not! They themselves must come and escort us out!”

But Paul said to them,“ They have beaten us publicly without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!”

But when they stretched him out with straps, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by,“ Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman and uncondemned?”When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and told him, saying,“ What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman.”The commander came and said to Paul,“ Tell me, are you a Roman?” And he said,“ Yes.”The commander answered,“ I acquired this citizenship for a large sum of money.” And Paul said,“ But I was actually born a citizen.”Therefore, those who were about to interrogate him immediately backed away from him; and the commander also was afraid when he found out that he was a Roman, and because he had put him in chains.

Can a throne of destruction be allied with You, One which devises mischief by decree?

“ Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be as wary as serpents, and as innocent as doves.

God takes His position in His assembly; He judges in the midst of the gods.How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? Selah

and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said,“ These men, Jews as they are, are causing our city trouble,and they are proclaiming customs that are not lawful for us to accept or to practice, since we are Romans.”The crowd joined in an attack against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely;and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, But the righteous are bold as a lion.

Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.Then the king got up at dawn, at the break of day, and went in a hurry to the lions’ den.

He responded,“ Look! I see four men untied and walking about in the middle of the fire unharmed, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the furnace of blazing fire; he said,“ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego, come out, you servants of the Most High God, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego came out of the middle of the fire.

Do you indeed speak righteousness, you gods? Do you judge fairly, you sons of mankind?No, in heart you practice injustice; On earth you clear a way for the violence of your hands.
