After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them:“ Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.

But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter( for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles),and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed:“ Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.

However the Lord God of Israel chose me above all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever, for He has chosen Judah to be the ruler. And of the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, He was pleased with me to make me king over all Israel.And of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons) He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:‘ Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things?

John answered and said,“ A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

Do all things without complaining and disputing,

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

And they prayed and said,“ You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen

But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him,‘ Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said,‘ John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying,“ Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:“ Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said,“ Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”Then Peter opened his mouth and said:“ In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ— He is Lord of all—that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,“ Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do.”

Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus;

But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

“ Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;
