有幾個人從猶太下來，教導弟兄們說：“你們若不照摩西的規例受割禮，就不能得救。”

我第八天受割禮，屬於以色列民族便雅憫支派，是希伯來人所生的希伯來人。按著律法來說，我是個法利賽人；按著熱誠來說，我是迫害教會的；按著律法上的義來說，我是無可指摘的。然而以前對我有益的，現在因著基督的緣故，我都當作是有損的。不但這樣，我也把萬事當作是有損的，因為我以認識我主基督耶穌為至寶。為了他，我把萬事都拋棄了，看作廢物，為了要得著基督。

我們聽說有人從我們這裡出去，說了一些話攪擾你們，使你們心裡不安，其實我們並沒有吩咐他們。

基督釋放了我們，為了要使我們得自由。所以你們要站立得穩，不要再被奴役的軛控制。我保羅現在告訴你們，如果你們受割禮，基督對你們就毫無益處了。我再對所有受割禮的人鄭重聲明：他有責任遵行全部的律法。

如果他們肯作證的話，他們是早就知道，我是按著我們祖宗最嚴格的教派，過著法利賽人的生活。現在我站著受審，是為了對神向我們祖先的應許存著盼望。

我們看這個人就像瘟疫一樣，是煽動普天下猶太人生亂的人，又是拿撒勒派的首領。

他們聽了，就讚美神，對保羅說：“弟兄，你看，猶太人中信主的有好幾萬，都是對律法很熱心的人。
