有一個利未人，生在塞浦路斯，名叫約瑟，使徒稱他為巴拿巴（巴拿巴翻出來就是勸慰子）。

原來我們在許多事上都有過失；若有人在話語上沒有過失，他就是完全人，也能勒住自己的全身。

時常行善而不犯罪的義人，世上實在沒有。

我也知道，在我裏頭，就是我肉體之中，沒有良善。因為，立志為善由得我，只是行出來由不得我。故此，我所願意的善，我反不做；我所不願意的惡，我倒去做。若我去做所不願意做的，就不是我做的，乃是住在我裏頭的罪做的。我覺得有個律，就是我願意為善的時候，便有惡與我同在。

他們既被聖靈差遣，就下到西流基，從那裏坐船往塞浦路斯去。到了撒拉米，就在猶太人各會堂裏傳講神的道，也有約翰作他們的幫手。經過全島，直到帕弗，在那裏遇見一個有法術、假充先知的猶太人，名叫巴‧耶穌。這人常和方伯士求‧保羅同在。士求‧保羅是個通達人，他請了巴拿巴和掃羅來，要聽神的道。只是那行法術的以呂馬（這名翻出來就是行法術的意思）敵擋使徒，要叫方伯不信真道。掃羅又名保羅，被聖靈充滿，定睛看他，說：「你這充滿各樣詭詐奸惡，魔鬼的兒子，眾善的仇敵，你混亂主的正道還不止住嗎？現在主的手加在你身上，你要瞎眼，暫且不見日光。」他的眼睛立刻昏蒙黑暗，四下裏求人拉着手領他。方伯看見所做的事，很希奇主的道，就信了。

但內中有塞浦路斯和古利奈人，他們到了安提阿也向希臘人傳講主耶穌。

那時，門徒增多，有說希臘話的猶太人向希伯來人發怨言，因為在天天的供給上忽略了他們的寡婦。

保羅、巴拿巴與他們大大地紛爭辯論；眾門徒就定規，叫保羅、巴拿巴和本會中幾個人，為所辯論的，上耶路撒冷去見使徒和長老。

從那裏又開船，因為風不順，就貼着塞浦路斯背風岸行去。

我看萬事盡都有限，惟有你的命令極其寬廣。

是因他們惹動他的靈，摩西用嘴說了急躁的話。
