有一个利未人，生在塞浦路斯，名叫约瑟，使徒称他为巴拿巴（“巴拿巴”翻出来就是“劝慰子”）。

原来我们在许多事上都有过失；若有人在话语上没有过失，他就是完全人，也能勒住自己的全身。

时常行善而不犯罪的义人，世上实在没有。

我也知道，在我里头，就是我肉体之中，没有良善。因为，立志为善由得我，只是行出来由不得我。故此，我所愿意的善，我反不做；我所不愿意的恶，我倒去做。若我去做所不愿意做的，就不是我做的，乃是住在我里头的罪做的。我觉得有个律，就是我愿意为善的时候，便有恶与我同在。

他们既被圣灵差遣，就下到西流基，从那里坐船往塞浦路斯去。到了撒拉米，就在犹太人各会堂里传讲神的道，也有约翰作他们的帮手。经过全岛，直到帕弗，在那里遇见一个有法术、假充先知的犹太人，名叫巴耶稣。这人常和方伯士求保罗同在。士求保罗是个通达人，他请了巴拿巴和扫罗来，要听神的道。只是那行法术的以吕马（这名翻出来就是“行法术”的意思）敌挡使徒，要叫方伯不信真道。扫罗又名保罗，被圣灵充满，定睛看他，说：“你这充满各样诡诈奸恶，魔鬼的儿子，众善的仇敌，你混乱主的正道还不止住吗？现在主的手加在你身上，你要瞎眼，暂且不见日光。”他的眼睛立刻昏蒙黑暗，四下里求人拉着手领他。方伯看见所做的事，很希奇主的道，就信了。

但内中有塞浦路斯和古利奈人，他们到了安提阿也向希腊人传讲主耶稣。

那时，门徒增多，有说希腊话的犹太人向希伯来人发怨言，因为在天天的供给上忽略了他们的寡妇。

保罗、巴拿巴与他们大大地纷争辩论；众门徒就定规，叫保罗、巴拿巴和本会中几个人，为所辩论的，上耶路撒冷去见使徒和长老。

从那里又开船，因为风不顺，就贴着塞浦路斯背风岸行去。

我看万事尽都有限，惟有你的命令极其宽广。

是因他们惹动他的灵，摩西用嘴说了急躁的话。
