So I plan to see you when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while I am passing through. And I hope you will help me on my journey there. But first I want to enjoy being with you for a while.

When they heard this, they didn’t object anymore. They praised God. They said,“ So then, God has allowed even Gentiles to turn away from their sins. He did this so that they could live.”Some believers had been scattered by the suffering that unbelievers had caused them. They were scattered after Stephen was killed. Those believers traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch. But they spread the word only among Jews.

Everyone became quiet as they listened to Barnabas and Paul. They were telling about the signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

The Lord continues,“ I will cause peace to flow over her like a river. I will make the wealth of nations sweep over her like a flooding stream. You will nurse and be carried in her arms. You will play on her lap.As a mother comforts her child, I will comfort you. You will find comfort in Jerusalem.”When you see that happen, your hearts will be filled with joy. Just as grass grows quickly, you will succeed. The Lord will show his power to those who serve him. But he will pour out his anger on his enemies.

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad. They honored the word of the Lord. All who were appointed for eternal life believed.

“ Look up. Look all around you. All your people are getting together to come back to you. Your sons will come from far away. Your daughters will be carried on the hip like little children.Then your face will glow with joy. Your heart will beat fast because you are so happy. Wealth from across the ocean will be brought to you. The riches of the nations will come to you.

Bring the fattest calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.This son of mine was dead. And now he is alive again. He was lost. And now he is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

The believers there had heard we were coming. They traveled as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us. When Paul saw these people, he thanked God for them and was encouraged by them.

The apostles in Jerusalem heard that people in Samaria had accepted God’s word. So they sent Peter and John to Samaria.

When he finds it, he will joyfully put it on his shouldersand go home. Then he will call his friends and neighbors together. He will say,‘ Be joyful with me. I have found my lost sheep.’I tell you, it will be the same in heaven. There will be great joy when one sinner turns away from sin. Yes, there will be more joy than for 99 godly people who do not need to turn away from their sins.“ Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the house? Won’t she search carefully until she finds the coin?And when she finds it, she will call her friends and neighbors together. She will say,‘ Be joyful with me. I have found my lost coin.’I tell you, it is the same in heaven. There is joy in heaven over one sinner who turns away from sin.”

I planned to visit you on my way to Macedonia. I would have come back to you from there. Then you would have sent me on my way to Judea.
