Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

Here is what we should write to them. They must not eat food that has been made impure by being offered to statues of gods. They must not commit sexual sins. They must not eat the meat of animals that have been choked to death. And they must not drink blood.

But I have a few things against you, because you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

But regarding the Gentiles who have believed, we sent a letter, having decided that they should abstain from meat sacrificed to idols and from blood and what is strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

Therefore, concerning the eating of food sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no God but one.For even if there are so called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.However, not all people have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.Now food will not bring us close to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.But take care that this freedom of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will his conscience, if he is weak, not be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?For through your knowledge the one who is weak is ruined, the brother or sister for whose sake Christ died.And so, by sinning against the brothers and sisters and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.

Only you shall not eat the blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands so as not to worship demons and the idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk;

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!”

‘ And anyone from the house of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats the blood, and will cut him off from among his people.For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’Therefore I said to the sons of Israel,‘ No person among you may eat blood, nor may any stranger who resides among you eat blood.’So when anyone from the sons of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, while hunting catches an animal or a bird which may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dirt.“ For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel,‘ You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

Now concerning food sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes one conceited, but love edifies people.

otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they would prostitute themselves with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you to eat of his sacrifice,and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods.

Only you shall not eat its blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.

Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written:“ The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.”Nor are we to commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and twenty three thousand fell in one day.

For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.

Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,

Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ You eat meat with the blood in it, raise your eyes to your idols as you shed blood. Should you then possess the land?

They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood.So they became unclean in their practices, And were unfaithful in their deeds.

For they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.

So the people loudly rushed upon the spoils, and took sheep, oxen, and calves, and slaughtered them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.

I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and indecent behavior which they have practiced.

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Remove the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments;

But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so called brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or a greedy person, or an idolater, or is verbally abusive, or habitually drunk, or a swindler— not even to eat with such a person.

that there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ You shall not eat any fat from an ox, a sheep, or a goat.Also the fat of an animal which dies and the fat of an animal torn by animals may be put to any other use, but you certainly are not to eat it.For whoever eats the fat of the animal from which an offering by fire is offered to the Lord, the person who eats it shall also be cut off from his people.And you are not to eat any blood, either of bird or animal, in any of your dwellings.Any person who eats any blood, that person shall also be cut off from his people.’ ”

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.I speak as to wise people; you then, judge what I say.Is the cup of blessing which we bless not a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is the bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ?Since there is one loaf, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf.Look at the people of Israel; are those who eat the sacrifices not partners in the altar?What do I mean then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?No, but I say that things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up.No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor.Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions, for the sake of conscience;for the earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains.If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions, for the sake of conscience.But if anyone says to you,“ This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience;

Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude;for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

Only be sure not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.You shall not eat it, so that it may go well for you and your sons after you, since you will be doing what is right in the sight of the Lord.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;

Therefore, say to the house of Israel,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Will you defile yourselves in the way of your fathers and adulterously pursue their detestable things?And when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, you are defiling yourselves with all your idols to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live,” declares the Lord God,“ I certainly will not be inquired of by you.

But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints;

and he had in his hand a little scroll, which was open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land;

Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however God will do away with both of them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.

But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior,

But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.

“ You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the stranger who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a stranger; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

“ You shall have no other gods before Me.“ You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth.You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying,“ Go, take the scroll which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.”
