And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.

Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question.

After Paul and Barnabas had engaged them in serious argument and debate, Paul and Barnabas and some others were appointed to go up to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem about this issue.

當時，使徒、長老和全教會都認為好，就從他們中間選出人來，差他們和保羅、巴拿巴一同到安提阿去，所選的就是別號巴撒巴的猶大和西拉，他們是弟兄中的領袖。於是寫信給他們帶去，信上說：“使徒和作長老的弟兄們，向安提阿、敘利亞、基利家的外族眾弟兄問安。

到了耶路撒冷，他們受到教會、使徒和長老的接待，就報告神同他們一起所行的一切。

他們就這樣行了，由巴拿巴和掃羅經手送到長老們那裡。

過了十四年，我再次上耶路撒冷去，這次是和巴拿巴，並且帶著提多一同去的。我是順從啟示去的；在那裡我對他們說明我在外族人中所傳的福音，私下講了給那些有名望的人聽，免得我從前或現在都白跑了。

我雖然自由，不受任何人管轄，但我自願成為眾人的奴僕，為的是要多得一些人。對猶太人，我就作猶太人，為了要得著猶太人；對律法以下的人，雖然我自己不在律法之下，還是作了律法以下的人，為了要得著律法以下的人。對沒有律法的人，我就作了沒有律法的人，其實我不是在神的律法以外，而是在基督的律法之下，為了要得著沒有律法的人。對軟弱的人，我就成了軟弱的人，為了要得著軟弱的人。對怎麼樣的人，我就作怎麼樣的人；無論如何，總要救一些人。我所作的一切，都是為了福音的緣故，好讓我與別人同享福音的好處。

我很驚奇，你們這麼快就離開了藉著基督的恩呼召你們的那一位，去歸向別的福音。其實那並不是另一個福音，只是有些攪擾你們的人，想把基督的福音改變。但無論是我們，或是從天上來的使者，如果傳給你們的和我們以前傳給你們的福音不同，他就該受咒詛。我們已經說過，現在我要再說，如果有人傳給你們的和你們以前所領受的福音不同，他就該受咒詛。我現在是要得人的歡心，還是要得神的歡心呢？難道我想討人歡喜嗎？如果我仍然要討人歡喜，就不是基督的僕人了。

我在基督裡雖然可以放膽吩咐你作應作的事，然而像我這上了年紀的保羅，現在又是為基督耶穌被囚禁的，寧願憑著愛心請求你，

他們經過各城，把耶路撒冷的使徒和長老所定的規條，交給門徒遵守。

我們派了猶大和西拉一同去，他們也會親口述說這些事。

聖靈吩咐我跟他們一起去，一點也不要疑惑。這六位弟兄也跟我一起去，我們就進了那人的家。

你若是這樣行，神也這樣吩咐你，你就能站立得住，所有的人民也都能平平安安地歸回自己的地方。”

但我認為自己沒有一點比不上那些“超等使徒”；

因此，我們一致同意，選派一些人跟我們親愛的巴拿巴和保羅去見你們，

彼得就請他們進去，留他們住下。第二天，彼得動身跟他們一同去，另有約帕的幾位弟兄同行。

親愛的，儘管我曾經迫切地想寫信給你們，論到我們共享的救恩；現在我更覺得必須寫信勸勉你們，要竭力維護從前一次就全交給了聖徒的信仰，

第二天，保羅和我們一同去見雅各，長老們也都在座。

對這些人，我們一點也沒有讓步妥協，為了要使福音的真理存留在你們中間。

耶和華對撒母耳說：“眾民對你所說的一切，你只管聽從，因為他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我，不要我作他們的王。
