今爾何為拂逆天主、而欲以吾列祖及吾儕所不堪負荷之軛、加諸信徒之項乎？

Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?

Now then, why are you trying to test God? You test him when you put a heavy load on the shoulders of Gentiles. Our people of long ago couldn’t carry that load. We can’t either.

Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear?

And they tie up heavy burdens and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as their finger.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles, to which you want to be enslaved all over again?

But Ahaz said,“ I will not ask, nor will I put the Lord to the test!”

Jesus said to him,“ On the other hand, it is written:‘ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”

which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience,

Where your fathers put Me to the test, And saw My works for forty years.

So the people quarreled with Moses and said,“ Give us water so that we may drink!” And Moses said to them,“ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”

“ Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light.”

Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave, although he is owner of everything,but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by the father.So we too, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elementary principles of the world.But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters.
