Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch. Here is what they were teaching the believers.“ Moses commanded you to be circumcised,” they said.“ If you aren’t, you can’t be saved.”

But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers,“ Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying,“ You must be circumcised and keep the law”— to whom we gave no such commandment—

And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Was anyone called while circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Was anyone called while uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised.Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were not straight forward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all,“ If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”

In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in( who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage),

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised;and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you.He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”Then God said to Abraham,“ As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart,“ Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”And Abraham said to God,“ Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!”Then God said:“ No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.”Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him.Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael;and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised.And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also,and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised.

So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord. And they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law;

Moses therefore gave you circumcision( not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
