Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch. Here is what they were teaching the believers.“ Moses commanded you to be circumcised,” they said.“ If you aren’t, you can’t be saved.”

While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions,

And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision.For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all,“ If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.”

But even Titus, who was with me, was not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek.Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in— who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery—

Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh.For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh—

This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself,“ Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”And Abraham said to God,“ Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation.But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year.”When he had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all those born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him.Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.That very day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised.And all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.

blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness.How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised.He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well,and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers.

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law,

Moses gave you circumcision( not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
