天亮後，猶太人設下陰謀，並起誓說：「不殺保羅，誓不吃喝！」有四十多人參與了這個陰謀。他們去見祭司長和長老，說：「我們已經發了誓，不殺保羅不吃飯。請你們和公會出面通知千夫長，請他把保羅押到你們這裡來，就說要進一步審訊他。我們準備在他到達之前殺掉他！」保羅的外甥聽到這一陰謀，就去軍營通知保羅。保羅請來一位百夫長，說：「請趕快帶這青年去見千夫長，他有要事稟告！」百夫長領那青年去見千夫長，說：「那囚犯保羅叫我帶這青年來，說有要事稟告。」千夫長就拉著那青年的手走到一旁，私下問他：「你有什麼事要告訴我？」他說：「那些猶太人約好了，要請求你明天帶保羅到公會受審，假裝要詳細審問他的事。你不要答應他們，因為他們有四十多個人會埋伏在半路，並且還起誓說，『不殺保羅就不吃不喝』。他們現在已經準備就緒，就等你答應了。」千夫長聽後，就叫他回去，並叮囑道：「你向我稟告的事，不要告訴別人。」

可是，帖撒羅尼迦的猶太人聽到保羅在庇哩亞宣揚上帝的道，就趕來慫恿、煽動眾人。庇哩亞的弟兄姊妹立刻送保羅到海邊，西拉和提摩太仍然留在庇哩亞。

亞蘭王與以色列人交戰，他和臣僕商議要在某處安營。上帝的僕人派人去稟告以色列王說：「你要小心，不要經過那個地方，因為亞蘭人埋伏在那裡。」以色列王派人到上帝的僕人所說的地方，警告那裡的人要小心防備。這樣的事情發生了好幾次。亞蘭王因此十分惱怒，召來臣僕質問他們：「你們當中誰向以色列王洩露了我們的計劃？」一位臣僕說：「我主我王啊，沒有人洩露。是以色列的先知以利沙將王在寢宮所談的事告訴了以色列王。」

保羅來到特庇，然後又到路司得。那裡有個門徒名叫提摩太，母親是信主的猶太人，父親是希臘人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄姊妹都稱讚提摩太。

他們晝夜在城門守候，伺機下手，但這陰謀被掃羅知道了。
