天亮后，犹太人设下阴谋，并起誓说：“不杀保罗，誓不吃喝！”有四十多人参与了这个阴谋。他们去见祭司长和长老，说：“我们已经发了誓，不杀保罗不吃饭。请你们和公会出面通知千夫长，请他把保罗押到你们这里来，就说要进一步审讯他。我们准备在他到达之前杀掉他！”保罗的外甥听到这一阴谋，就去军营通知保罗。保罗请来一位百夫长，说：“请赶快带这青年去见千夫长，他有要事禀告！”百夫长领那青年去见千夫长，说：“那囚犯保罗叫我带这青年来，说有要事禀告。”千夫长就拉着那青年的手走到一旁，私下问他：“你有什么事要告诉我？”他说：“那些犹太人约好了，要请求你明天带保罗到公会受审，假装要详细审问他的事。你不要答应他们，因为他们有四十多个人会埋伏在半路，并且还起誓说，‘不杀保罗就不吃不喝’。他们现在已经准备就绪，就等你答应了。”千夫长听后，就叫他回去，并叮嘱道：“你向我禀告的事，不要告诉别人。”

可是，帖撒罗尼迦的犹太人听到保罗在庇哩亚宣扬上帝的道，就赶来怂恿、煽动众人。庇哩亚的弟兄姊妹立刻送保罗到海边，西拉和提摩太仍然留在庇哩亚。

亚兰王与以色列人交战，他和臣仆商议要在某处安营。上帝的仆人派人去禀告以色列王说：“你要小心，不要经过那个地方，因为亚兰人埋伏在那里。”以色列王派人到上帝的仆人所说的地方，警告那里的人要小心防备。这样的事情发生了好几次。亚兰王因此十分恼怒，召来臣仆质问他们：“你们当中谁向以色列王泄露了我们的计划？”一位臣仆说：“我主我王啊，没有人泄露。是以色列的先知以利沙将王在寝宫所谈的事告诉了以色列王。”

保罗来到特庇，然后又到路司得。那里有个门徒名叫提摩太，母亲是信主的犹太人，父亲是希腊人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄姊妹都称赞提摩太。

他们昼夜在城门守候，伺机下手，但这阴谋被扫罗知道了。
