He gives rain for the earth and water for the fields.

then he will send the rains in their proper seasons— the early and late rains— so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil.

They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities— his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.

Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring.

For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in,and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.

I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit.

They do not say from the heart,‘ Let us live in awe of the Lord our God, for he gives us rain each spring and fall, assuring us of a harvest when the time is right.’

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.

Who makes the rain fall on barren land, in a desert where no one lives?Who sends rain to satisfy the parched ground and make the tender grass spring up?“ Does the rain have a father? Who gives birth to the dew?

I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.

Can any of the worthless foreign gods send us rain? Does it fall from the sky by itself? No, you are the one, O Lord our God! Only you can do such things. So we will wait for you to help us.

The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.

Later on, in the third year of the drought, the Lord said to Elijah,“ Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!”

Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

But instead, you dance and play; you slaughter cattle and kill sheep. You feast on meat and drink wine. You say,“ Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

“ His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him— though he is not far from any one of us.For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said,‘ We are his offspring.’

O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both large and small.See the ships sailing along, and Leviathan, which you made to play in the sea.They all depend on you to give them food as they need it.When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied.

“ Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.

You sent abundant rain, O God, to refresh the weary land.There your people finally settled, and with a bountiful harvest, O God, you provided for your needy people.

I will make it a wild place where the vines are not pruned and the ground is not hoed, a place overgrown with briers and thorns. I will command the clouds to drop no rain on it.

Sing out your thanks to the Lord; sing praises to our God with a harp.He covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures.

Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops.You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy!

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.

Our ancestors captured fortified cities and fertile land. They took over houses full of good things, with cisterns already dug and vineyards and olive groves and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate until they were full and grew fat and enjoyed themselves in all your blessings.

The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it.When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
