因為上帝預先知道誰是屬祂的人，並預定這些人要被塑造成祂兒子的形像，使祂的兒子在許多弟兄中成為長子。祂所預定的人，祂也呼召他們；祂所呼召的人，祂也稱他們為義人；祂稱為義人的，祂也使他們得榮耀。

這該怎麼說呢？以色列人努力追求，卻一無所得，只有蒙揀選的人得到了，其他的人都變得頑固不化。

我還有別的羊不在這羊圈裡，我必須領他們回來，他們也必聽我的聲音。這樣，我所有的羊將要合成一群，由一個牧人來帶領。

只是你們不肯相信，因為你們不是我的羊。我的羊聽我的聲音，我也認識他們，他們也跟隨我。

使外族人也因祂的憐憫而將榮耀歸給上帝。正如聖經上說：「因此，我要在列邦中讚美你，歌頌你的名。」又說：「外族人啊，你們當與主的子民一同歡樂。」又說：「萬邦啊，你們當讚美主！萬民啊，你們當頌讚祂！」以賽亞先知也說：「將來耶西的根要興起，祂要統治外族，外族人都要仰望祂。」

早在創造世界以前，祂已經在基督裡揀選了我們，使我們在祂眼中成為聖潔無瑕的人。

祂不單是要替猶太民族死，也要把散居在各處的上帝的兒女聚集在一起。

主所愛的弟兄姊妹，我們應該時常為你們感謝上帝，因為上帝一開始就揀選了你們，為了使你們藉著聖靈得以聖潔，並且相信真理，從而得救。上帝藉著我們所傳的福音呼召了你們，使你們可以得到我們主耶穌基督的榮耀。

儘管我們死在過犯之中，祂仍然使我們和基督一同活了過來。你們得救是因為上帝的恩典。在基督耶穌裡，上帝使我們與基督一同復活，一同坐在天上，好藉著祂在基督耶穌裡向我們所施的恩慈，向後世顯明祂無可比擬的豐富恩典。你們得救是靠恩典，憑信心。這不是出於你們自己，而是上帝的禮物；也不是由於你們的行為，以免有人自誇。我們是上帝的傑作，是在基督耶穌裡創造的，為要叫我們做祂預先安排給我們的美善之事。

因為我有上司，也有部下。我命令我的部下去，他就去；要他來，他就來。我吩咐奴僕做什麼事，他一定照辦。」

於是，他們和保羅約定了會面的日期。那一天，很多人來到保羅住的地方。從早到晚，保羅向他們傳揚上帝國的道，引用摩西律法和先知書勸他們相信有關耶穌的事。

我們照保羅的吩咐先乘船到亞朔預備在那裡接他，他打算由陸路步行到那裡。

並且祂在我們這些信的人身上所運行的能力是何等浩大。

弟兄姊妹，你們都知道司提法納一家在亞該亞是最早信主的，也知道他們怎樣盡心竭力地服侍聖徒。

接著我又問，『主啊！我該怎麼辦？』主說，『起來，到大馬士革去，那裡會有人將指派給你的事告訴你。』

天使對他們說：「不要怕！我告訴你們一個有關萬民的大喜訊，今天在大衛的城裡有一位救主為你們降生了，祂就是主基督！

十一個門徒趕到加利利，到了耶穌和他們約定的山上，

人人都要服從政府的權柄，因為所有的權柄都是出於上帝。現存的政權都是上帝設立的。

我要向你的聖殿下拜，稱謝你的名，因為你是慈愛信實的，你顯明自己的尊名和應許偉大無比。

讚美上帝，受到眾人的喜愛。主使得救的人數與日俱增。

弟兄姊妹，最後我還要請你們為我們禱告，好使主的道像在你們那裡一樣迅速傳開，受到尊崇，

眾人讀過這封信之後，都因信中勸勉的話而歡喜。

城裡洋溢著歡樂的氣氛。

保羅和巴拿巴為這件事與他們激烈地辯論，最後大家決定派保羅、巴拿巴和幾個當地的信徒上耶路撒冷去跟使徒和長老討論這件事。

結果，那天約有三千人相信了他傳的道，接受了洗禮。

保羅和巴拿巴離開會堂時，會堂裡的人請求他們下一個安息日再來講道。
