When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him.

於是大祭司就採取行動。他和所有與他在一起的人，就是撒都該教派的人，都滿腔嫉妒，

如今在這些事上，因你們不與他們一起跑進那同樣放蕩的洪流中，他們就感到奇怪，毀謗你們。

後來，當有些人心裡剛硬、不肯信從，在會眾面前誹謗這道的時候，保羅就離開他們，把門徒們分別出來，天天在特拉諾斯講堂裡講論。

阻止我們向外邦人傳道使外邦人得救。這樣，他們常常積滿自己的罪孽，而神的震怒在最後臨到了他們身上！

或者，你們以為經上所說的「神使聖靈住在我們裡面，他愛我們到嫉妒的地步」是空話嗎？

可是一些來自稱為「自由人」會堂的人，包括一些古利奈人、亞歷山大人，還有來自奇里乞亞省和亞細亞省的人，起來與司提反辯論，但司提反以智慧和聖靈說話，他們就抵擋不住。

因為你們仍然是屬肉體的。既然你們中間有嫉妒、紛爭和分裂，難道你們不就是屬肉體的，按人的意思來行事的嗎？

他們充滿了各種不義、邪惡、貪心、惡毒；滿心是嫉妒、凶殺、紛爭、欺詐、狠毒；他們搬弄是非、

「經文士和法利賽人哪，你們這些偽善的人有禍了！因為你們在人的面前封閉了天國。你們自己不進去，也不讓正要進的人進去。

我也看到，一切的勞苦和各樣工作的技能，都是出於人與鄰人之間的嫉妒。這也是虛空，也是捕風！

「那時，大兒子正在田裡。當他往回走，快到家的時候，聽見音樂和跳舞的聲音，就叫來一個僕人，問這些到底是什麼事。僕人對他說：『你弟弟回來了。你父親因他平安無恙地回來，就宰殺了那隻養肥的牛犢。』「大兒子發怒，不肯進去，他父親就出來勸他。他回答父親，說：『你看，我服事你這麼多年，從來沒有違背過你的命令，可是你從來沒有給過我一隻小山羊，好讓我與朋友們一同慶祝。而你這個兒子，這個與妓女們一起吞盡了你財產的，他一來了，你就為他宰殺了養肥的牛犢！』

但那些不肯信從的猶太人嫉妒了，就招聚一些市井無賴，成群結夥，擾亂城市。他們闖進耶森的家，搜尋保羅和賽拉斯，要把他們帶到民眾那裡。

但如果你們心裡懷著苦毒的嫉妒和爭競，就不要自誇、說謊而抵擋真理。這種智慧不是從上面下來的，而是屬地的，屬血氣的，屬鬼魔的。要知道，哪裡有嫉妒和爭競，哪裡就有混亂和各樣的惡事。

耶和華啊，你的手高舉，他們卻不看！願他們看到你對子民的熱心就蒙羞；願你為敵人所預備的烈火吞噬他們！

他的哥哥們都嫉妒他，他父親卻把這話存在心裡。

嫉妒、凶殺、醉酒、荒宴以及類似這樣的事。對這些事，我現在要預先告訴你們，就像我以前告訴過你們的那樣：行這些事的人不會繼承神的國。

其實彼拉多知道他們是出於嫉妒才把耶穌交給他的。
