“ Look at the nations and pay attention! You will be shocked and amazed! For I will do something in your lifetime that you will not believe even though you are forewarned.

For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The rest were hardened,as it is written,“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.”And David says,“ Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;let their eyes be darkened so that they may not see, and make their backs bend continually.”I ask then, they did not stumble into an irrevocable fall, did they? Absolutely not! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make Israel jealous.Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration bring?Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Seeing that I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them.

They said to him,“ He will utterly destroy those evil men! Then he will lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his portion at the harvest.”Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the scriptures:‘ The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?For this reason I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.”

And you will say,“ How I hated discipline! My heart spurned reproof!

“ For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.I tell you the truth, this generation will be held responsible for all these things!“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!Look, your house is left to you desolate!

When Jesus heard this he was amazed and said to those who followed him,“ I tell you the truth, I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel!I tell you, many will come from the east and west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace?For we know the one who said,“ Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” and again,“ The Lord will judge his people.”

“ But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Those who are inside the city must depart. Those who are out in the country must not enter it,because these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! For there will be great distress on the earth and wrath against this people.They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away as captives among all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.“ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth nations will be in distress, anxious over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves.People will be fainting from fear and from the expectation of what is coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

For this is what the Lord has commanded us:‘ I have appointed you to be a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

The Pharisees( who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed him.

The king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death and set their city on fire.Then he said to his slaves,‘ The wedding is ready, but the ones who had been invited were not worthy.So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’And those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

saying,“ If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and surround you and close in on you from every side.They will demolish you– you and your children within your walls– and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

Every person who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed from the people.’

that by revelation the divine secret was made known to me, as I wrote before briefly.When reading this, you will be able to understand my insight into this secret of Christ.Now this secret was not disclosed to people in former generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit,namely, that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.I became a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the exercise of his power.To me– less than the least of all the saints– this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ

Then he said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

Therefore, as flaming fire devours straw, and dry grass disintegrates in the flames, so their root will rot, and their flower will blow away like dust. For they have rejected the law of the LORD who commands armies, they have spurned the commands of the Holy One of Israel.

Your names will live on in the curse formulas of my chosen ones. The sovereign LORD will kill you, but he will give his servants another name.

because they hinder us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they constantly fill up their measure of sins, but wrath has come upon them completely.

Now after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one will be cut off and have nothing. As for the city and the sanctuary, the people of the coming prince will destroy them. But his end will come speedily like a flood. Until the end of the war that has been decreed there will be destruction.He will confirm a covenant with many for one week. But in the middle of that week he will bring sacrifices and offerings to a halt. On the wing of abominations will come one who destroys, until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys.”

that is, the mystery that has been kept hidden from ages and generations, but has now been revealed to his saints.God wanted to make known to them the glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

However, because I called but you refused to listen, because I stretched out my hand but no one paid attention,because you neglected all my advice, and did not comply with my rebuke,so I myself will laugh when disaster strikes you, I will mock when what you dread comes,when what you dread comes like a whirlwind, and disaster strikes you like a devastating storm, when distressing trouble comes on you.Then they will call to me, but I will not answer; they will diligently seek me, but they will not find me.Because they hated moral knowledge, and did not choose to fear the LORD,they did not comply with my advice, they spurned all my rebuke.Therefore they will eat from the fruit of their way, and they will be stuffed full of their own counsel.For the waywardness of the simpletons will kill them, and the careless ease of fools will destroy them.

Therefore, listen to the LORD’s word, you who mock, you rulers of these people who reside in Jerusalem!For you say,“ We have made a treaty with death, with Sheol we have made an agreement. When the overwhelming judgment sweeps by it will not reach us. For we have made a lie our refuge, we have hidden ourselves in a deceitful word.”Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the LORD, says:“ Look, I am laying a stone in Zion, an approved stone, set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation. The one who maintains his faith will not panic.I will make justice the measuring line, fairness the plumb line; hail will sweep away the unreliable refuge, the floodwaters will overwhelm the hiding place.Your treaty with death will be dissolved; your agreement with Sheol will not last. When the overwhelming judgment sweeps by, you will be overrun by it.Whenever it sweeps by, it will overtake you; indeed, every morning it will sweep by, it will come through during the day and the night.” When this announcement is understood, it will cause nothing but terror.For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap around oneself.For the LORD will rise up, as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself, as he did in the Valley of Gibeon, to accomplish his work, his peculiar work, to perform his task, his strange task.So now, do not mock, or your chains will become heavier! For I have heard a message about decreed destruction, from the sovereign master, the LORD who commands armies, against the entire land.

The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed him, saying,“ He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

For we have heard him saying that Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”
