And over a period of many days he appeared to those who had gone with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to the people of Israel.

You are witnesses of all these things.

During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

“ Men of Galilee,” they said,“ why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere— in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them!“ Peace be with you,” he said.As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!Again he said,“ Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”Then he breathed on them and said,“ Receive the Holy Spirit.If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”One of the twelve disciples, Thomas( nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came.They told him,“ We have seen the Lord!” But he replied,“ I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them.“ Peace be with you,” he said.Then he said to Thomas,“ Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”“ My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.Then Jesus told him,“ You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them.“ Peace be with you,” he said.But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!“ Why are you frightened?” he asked.“ Why are your hearts filled with doubt?Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it’s really me. Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don’t have bodies, as you see that I do.”As he spoke, he showed them his hands and his feet.Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and wonder. Then he asked them,“ Do you have anything here to eat?”They gave him a piece of broiled fish,

He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles.

“ God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.

Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country.They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them.Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead.

So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.

We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”

Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened.Several of the disciples were there— Simon Peter, Thomas( nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.Simon Peter said,“ I’m going fishing.”“ We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was.He called out,“ Fellows, have you caught any fish?”“ No,” they replied.Then he said,“ Throw out your net on the right hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter,“ It’s the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic( for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore.The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only about a hundred yards from shore.When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them— fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.“ Bring some of the fish you’ve just caught,” Jesus said.So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn’t torn.“ Now come and have some breakfast!” Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him,“ Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish.This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead.

from the time he was baptized by John until the day he was taken from us. Whoever is chosen will join us as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection.”

And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

“ And we apostles are witnesses of all he did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross,

not to the general public, but to us whom God had chosen in advance to be his witnesses. We were those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact!
