When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.With him came Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy five pounds of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.Following Jewish burial custom, they wrapped Jesus’ body with the spices in long sheets of linen cloth.The place of crucifixion was near a garden, where there was a new tomb, never used before.And so, because it was the day of preparation for the Jewish Passover and since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.

The officer confirmed that Jesus was dead, so Pilate told Joseph he could have the body.Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth. Then he took Jesus’ body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

Then he said,“ When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him.Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth.He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.

Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said,“ Listen, we’re going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true.He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon.They will flog him with a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again.”

The people in Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize Jesus as the one the prophets had spoken about. Instead, they condemned him, and in doing this they fulfilled the prophets’ words that are read every Sabbath.

He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will.

But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him.
