None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, because if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and testified about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them about Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets.

Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn’t see him.”He said to them,“ How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!Wasn’t it necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.

So Jesus said to them,“ When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own. But just as the Father taught me, I say these things.

They will do these things because they haven’t known the Father or me.

“ I tell you, Peter,” he said,“ the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know me.”

In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

He told them,“ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

For these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: Not one of his bones will be broken.Also, another Scripture says: They will look at the one they pierced.

They continued their journey from Perga and reached Pisidian Antioch. On the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, you can speak.”

You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result— the survival of many people.

Jesus answered them,“ You are mistaken, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God.

But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they don’t know the one who sent me.

even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But I received mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief,

How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.But all this has happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and ran away.
