From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior— Jesus—

Of this man’s seed hath God according to promise brought unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus;

From the descendants of this man God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, just as he promised.

From this man’s offspring, God has brought salvation to Israel according to his promise,

This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke:“ One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.

“ We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors

to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”

I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

Declare what is to be, present it— let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.

God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’“ Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,

The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead— whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins.

and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:“ The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David,

If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“ What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”“ The son of David,” they replied.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

“‘ In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land.In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’For this is what the Lord says:‘ David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel,

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,“ Hosanna to the Son of David!”“ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“ Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David—that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.”

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Then Isaiah said,“ Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also?

But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.

But the angel said to them,“ Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
