After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him:‘ I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

God removed him and made David their king. Here is God’s witness about him.‘ David, son of Jesse, is a man dear to my heart,’ he said.‘ David will do everything I want him to do.’

And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said,‘ I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’

But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said,‘ I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’

because David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

And Samuel said to Saul,“ You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.”

He also chose David His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;From following the ewes that had young He brought him, To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance.So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, And said:“ I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him,With whom My hand shall be established; Also My arm shall strengthen him.The enemy shall not outwit him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him.“ But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him, And in My name his horn shall be exalted.Also I will set his hand over the sea, And his right hand over the rivers.He shall cry to Me,‘ You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’Also I will make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.My mercy I will keep for him forever, And My covenant shall stand firm with him.His seed also I will make to endure forever, And his throne as the days of heaven.“ If his sons forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments,If they break My statutes And do not keep My commandments,Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, And their iniquity with stripes.Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, Nor allow My faithfulness to fail.My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:His seed shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me;It shall be established forever like the moon, Even like the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah

“ David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them.Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever.

And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.

So Samuel said to him,“ The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you.

Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying,“ The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.”

But Samuel said to Saul,“ I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death,“ and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us,

who found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob.

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

So Saul, his three sons, his armorbearer, and all his men died together that same day.

I will be your King; Where is any other, That he may save you in all your cities? And your judges to whom you said,‘ Give me a king and princes’?I gave you a king in My anger, And took him away in My wrath.

But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”

But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel.David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.

However the Lord God of Israel chose me above all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever, for He has chosen Judah to be the ruler. And of the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, He was pleased with me to make me king over all Israel.And of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons) He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them— My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd.

Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days.

“ Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”

then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their captives to return, and will have mercy on them.’”

“ I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.

Then Samuel said:“ So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy?
