因為自古以來，在各城裡都有人宣講摩西的書，每逢安息日，在各會堂裡都有人誦讀。”

當時來了一位會堂的主管，名叫葉魯。他一看見耶穌，就俯伏在他腳前，

弟兄們，我勸你們耐心接受我這勸勉的話，因為我只是簡略地寫給你們。

耶穌來到拿撒勒自己長大的地方，照著習慣在安息日進入會堂，站起來要讀經。有人把以賽亞先知的書遞給他，他展開書卷找到一處，上面寫著：“主的靈在我身上，因為他膏我去傳福音給貧窮的人，差遣我去宣告被擄的得釋放，瞎眼的得看見，受壓制的得自由，

住在耶路撒冷的人和他們的官長，因為不認識基督，也不明白每逢安息日所讀的先知的話，就把他定了罪，正好應驗了先知的話。

會堂主管基利司布和他全家都信了主，許多哥林多人也聽了道，信了主，而且受了洗。

眾人揪住會堂主管蘇提尼，在審判臺前打他。這些事迦流一概不理。

他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈所賜給他們的口才，用別種語言說出話來。

律法和先知到約翰就結束了。從此，神的國的福音就傳開了，人人都要努力進去。

“各位父老弟兄，請聽聽我現在對你們的申辯。”

“弟兄們，關於祖先大衛的事，我不妨坦白告訴你們，他死了，葬了，直到今日他的墳墓還在我們這裡。

“弟兄們，經上的話，就是聖靈藉著大衛的口，預言那領人捉拿耶穌的猶大的事，是一定會應驗的。

但那講道的是對人講說，使他們得著造就、安慰和勸勉。

他們聽了以後，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：“弟兄們，我們應當作甚麼呢？”

勸慰的，就應當照著恩賜勸慰；把財物分給人的要真誠；領導的要殷勤；行善的要樂意。

經過了很多的辯論，彼得站起來對他們說：“弟兄們，你們知道，前些時候神在你們中間揀選了我，使外族人從我的口中聽見福音的道，而且信了。

他走遍那一帶地方，用許多話勸勉眾人，然後來到希臘。

司提反說：“各位父老兄弟請聽！我們的祖宗亞伯拉罕，在美索不達米亞，還沒有住在哈蘭的時候，榮耀的神向他顯現，
