耶和華重重地懲罰亞實突及附近村莊的居民，使他們都患上毒瘡。亞實突人見此情形，就說：「以色列上帝的約櫃不能留在我們這裡，因為上帝重重地懲罰我們和我們的大袞神。」

並讓門外的人，不論老少都眼目昏花，摸來摸去也找不著羅得家的門。

求你不要再懲罰我，你的責打使我幾乎喪命。因為人犯罪，你管教他們，使他們所愛的被吞噬，像被蟲蛀。世人不過是一絲氣息。（細拉）

這該怎麼說呢？以色列人努力追求，卻一無所得，只有蒙揀選的人得到了，其他的人都變得頑固不化。正如聖經上說：「上帝使他們至今心智昏迷，眼睛看不見，耳朵聽不到。」大衛也說：「願他們的宴席成為網羅、陷阱、絆腳石，給他們帶來報應；願他們眼目昏暗，無法看見，永遠彎腰駝背。」

因為耶和華把沉睡的靈傾倒在你們身上，祂封住你們的眼睛，蓋住你們的頭。你們的眼睛就是先知，你們的頭就是先見。

亞拿尼亞去了，進了那家，就把手按在掃羅身上，說：「掃羅弟兄，在你來的路上向你顯現的主耶穌派我來使你重見光明、被聖靈充滿。」

耶穌說：「我為了審判來到這世界，使瞎眼的可以看見，使看得見的反成了瞎眼的。」

約櫃抵達迦特的時候，耶和華攻擊那城，使那裡的男女老少都患了毒瘡，全城驚恐不已。

亞蘭王與以色列人交戰，他和臣僕商議要在某處安營。

弟兄姊妹，我不願意你們對以下這奧祕一無所知，還自以為聰明。這奧祕就是：雖然有些以色列人的心剛硬，但等到外族人得救的數目滿了以後，

因為你的箭射穿我，你的手擊打我。

落在永活上帝的手中是可怕的！

他們如同枯乾的水井和被狂風吹散的霧氣，有幽幽黑暗留給他們。
