He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers;

having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us: if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;

But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?

Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers with many words and strengthened them.

But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.

When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.He questioned him with many words, but he gave no answers.The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.

Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?

When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.

Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.Devout men buried Stephen and lamented greatly over him.But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house and dragged both men and women off to prison.

but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

All the saints greet you, especially those who are of Caesar’s household.

At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,and said to his servants,“ This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”For Herod had arrested John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.For John said to him,“ It is not lawful for you to have her.”When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.She, being prompted by her mother, said,“ Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you, as do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my relatives.

But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,

And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

They therefore who were scattered abroad by the oppression that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews only.But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.

But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their service, also taking with them John who was called Mark.

Don’t despise prophecies.
